Using Glostats
1. The service
Glostats (glostats.com) is a free, publicly available statistics website. It shows live population estimates, historical series, rankings, comparisons, maps and a conflict tracker compiled from public sources (see About & data sources). No registration is required and no fee is charged. By using the site you accept these terms.
2. Reusing figures, tables and charts
You may quote, copy, chart, print or republish the figures and tables shown on Glostats — including the CSV files on the datasets page — for any purpose, commercial or not, on one condition: credit Glostats with a link to the page the figure comes from (or to glostats.com where a link is not possible, for example in print). Every page has a "Cite or link to this page" box with ready-made text. A suggested attribution:

The underlying data remain subject to their original publishers' terms: United Nations World Population Prospects (CC BY 3.0 IGO), World Bank Open Data (CC BY 4.0), Natural Earth (public domain) and the CIA World Factbook (public domain). Wikipedia summaries shown on country pages are CC BY-SA 4.0 and belong to their authors.
You may not present Glostats pages as your own, remove attribution from embedded counters, or scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other visitors (automated access is welcome at a reasonable rate; please use the CSV files rather than crawling thousands of pages).
3. Embedding live counters
The widget page generates an HTML snippet that embeds a live counter for any country in an iframe served by glostats.com. You may embed it on any website, free of charge, as long as the credit line that comes with the snippet stays visible and links to Glostats. We may change or discontinue the widget; we will keep existing embeds working wherever reasonably possible.
4. What the numbers are — and are not
Live figures are statistical estimates, not counts. Each live population figure starts from the most recent official estimate and is advanced second by second using the published growth rate, so it is a well-founded projection of the current value, not a measurement. Historical series are shown as published by their sources, which revise their data from time to time. Conflict figures are compiled ranges from the sources cited on each page; they are never live and may lag events.
Glostats is provided "as is" for general information. We work hard to keep it accurate (and are grateful for corrections), but we make no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for decisions with legal, financial, medical or safety consequences.
5. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glostats and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the site or its data, including errors, omissions, interruptions or third-party content linked from the site.
6. Links to other sites
Country pages link to Wikipedia and to news articles, and conflict pages link to the sources of every figure. Those sites have their own terms and policies; we do not control them and do not endorse their content.
7. Trademarks and code
The Glostats name and logo are the property of the site's operator and may be used only to refer to or credit Glostats. The site's own code and design are not covered by the data reuse permission above. Apache ECharts is used under the Apache License 2.0.
8. Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
