Your data on Glostats
No accounts, no personal data
Glostats has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no comment sections. We do not ask for, collect, or store any personal information about you.
Local storage
Your browser's localStorage is used to cache public statistics (such as World Bank data series) on your own device so pages load faster on repeat visits, and to remember your cookie choice (gs_consent) if you were shown the consent banner. This data never identifies you, never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Third-party services
To display its statistics, Glostats makes requests to public data services:
- Your browser requests public data directly from api.worldbank.org (World Bank Open Data) and en.wikipedia.org (Wikipedia). Those requests are governed by the respective operators' own privacy policies.
- Country news headlines are fetched by our server from Google News; your browser talks only to glostats.com for news, not to Google.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
Glostats uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited, from which countries and on which kinds of devices, so we can improve the site. Google Analytics may set cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and processes a truncated IP address; we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features, and the data is not used to identify you personally. Google's own handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy; you can opt out everywhere with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics cookies are off by default and are only enabled if you press Accept on the consent banner; pressing Decline keeps them off. Until you choose, and if you decline, Google Analytics receives only cookieless, anonymous pings (Google Consent Mode). To change your choice later, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will appear again.
Advertising
Glostats shows no advertising today. If we introduce ads in the future, this policy will be updated first to describe exactly what is collected and by whom, and the consent banner will cover advertising cookies as well.
Embedded counters
If another website embeds a Glostats live counter (see widget), that small frame is served by glostats.com and is covered by this policy: it loads the same analytics tag as the rest of the site and nothing else.
